From food and drink, music, literature, walking, theatre, arts and craft, seasonal fun, anything and everything goes in Cornwall. Come and mingle, get stuck in or simply soak up the atmosphere loaded with Cornish culture. Join the locals at an annual festival, dance in the streets, eat local food and enjoy yourselves. Here are a few suggestions.
|February||5 February. St Ives Feats and Hurling Silver Ball||Celebrates the anniversary of the consecration of the Parish Church of St Eia in 1434 AD and a rare chance to watch the game of Hurling the Silver Ball, a centuries old form of rugby.|
|March||3 – 5 March. St Piran’s Day||Celebrations take place across Cornwall to honour St Piran, one of the most popular patron Saints. Be it an open air play, a singalong in a pub or a procession through a town, just look out for a black and white flag.|
|May||1 May. Padstow May Day||The biggest day in Padstow’s calendar. It’s not unusual for 30,000 people to flock into this little town on the day when Padstonians from all over the world return to their roots.|
|June||7 – 9 June Royal Cornwall Show||There’s something for every member of the family at the Royal Cornwall Show. It’s the county’s biggest annual event and is brim-full of exhibits and activities which offer so much in the way of entertainment, competition, information, shopping and all that’s best in food and farming.|
|July||6 – 7 July. Rock Oyster Festival||A midsummer celebration of music, food and art, taking place in the wonderful Cornish countryside overlooking the Camel Estuary near Wadebridge.|
|August||23 – 27 August. 46th Cornwall Folk Festival||There’s an amazing line up of international, national and local performers coming to Wadebridge this August. Gretchen Peters flies in from the States to headline, whilst all over the town on multiple stages, musicians fill the place with music.|
|October||4 – 7 October. North Cornwall Book Festival||Small but perfectly formed literary festival for readers of all ages and tastes, in the magical setting of St Endellion.|
|December||6 – 9 December. Padstow Christmas Festival|
