A great place to discover Cornwall

The slate built cottage provides a comfortable living space. Almond Tree Cottage can sleep up to four people and a baby in a cot.

Beautiful Bodmin Moor

Beautiful Bodmin Moor

The Moor is dominated by dramatic granite tors which tower over the sweeping expanses of open moorland. Marshes and bogs on the high moor drain into shallow moorland valleys before the rivers cross on to softer shales around the Moor and carve themselves deep river valleys.

Almond Tree Cottage

Almond Tree Cottage is a delightful privately owned self catering cottage in the parish of Advent sitting on the northern edge of Bodmin Moor and only 20 minutes from the north Cornwall coast.  Originally built in the 1850’s, it is one of a small cluster of converted farm buildings, all set in pretty, well-maintained grounds with lawned areas, flowering shrubs and mature trees on the estate of Trethin Manor, previously a prominent farm and one of Cornwall’s oldest houses.

The cottage is tucked away down a winding lane lined with traditional Cornish hedges, drenched with snowdrops and catkins in February, joined by cheerful daffodils in March, carpets of bluebells in April/May, lush green with red campion, tiny blue violets, may blossom and bright strident gorse during the summer! The almond tree next to the cottage blooms in April and May.

There’s plenty of opportunity to relax in and around Almond Tree Cottage: the adjacent communal games field offers spacious recreation for children and has a brick-built BBQ; the shared games room (a converted garage) has a table tennis table, a pool table and a table football machine. And, of course, you’re deep in the Cornish countryside with quiet lanes and public footpaths – why not have a walk along the River Camel; up to Advent Church (St Adwena) or for the more adventurous to Rough Tor and the Moor?

This is the perfect retreat from which to enjoy the best of Cornwall. Ideal for couples, families, cyclists, surfers and walkers.
